Taking It to the Streets

Muslim Leaders Demand Apology From Pope
New York Post
Online Edition

"Salih Kapusuz, deputy leader of Erdogan's Islamic-rooted party, said Benedict's remarks were either "the result of pitiful ignorance" about Islam and its prophet or, worse, a deliberate distortion. He has a dark mentality that comes from the darkness of the Middle Ages," Kapusuz told Turkish state media. "It looks like an effort to revive the mentality of the Crusades."

After a statement from the Pope made during a speech in the Germany the Arab street did what it does best and that is,,,, well took it to the streets. In protests and violent actions in various nations the "street" proved itself once again that it cannot tolerate any opinion of it's religion.

There were reports of churches being attacked all over the Arab world.  But take note of the Mr. Kapusuz's remarks.  An effort to revive the mentality of the crusades?  Surely he isn't serious?   A dark mentality that comes from the darkness of the Middle Ages?  Is this guy kidding?

The ONLY religion on the face of this earth that is miserably mired in the middle ages is Islam.  The ONLY religion that is currenlty on a crusade is Islam.

Other remarks by the Arab world were expressed in a hope that this remark will not lead to confrontations between Muslims and Christians.  This is like wishing on a star for as long as the Arab world cannot seem to get past critizism or percieved slights, there will always be confrontation.  The question is this, how long will the Western world just sit by and allow this to continue?

Perhaps when people like the President of Iran apologize for their vicious remarks will the Arab street deserve the respect they seek.
